Ben Hogan
Ben Hogan (with full name:William Ben Hogan) lived from 1912 to 1997. This American golfer
is generally considered one of the greatest players in the history of golf. Ben Hogan had
an important influence on the golf swing theory and he was admired for his legendary ball-striking
ability.
Ben Hogan believed that a solid, repeatable golf swing was composed by only a
few but essential elements. If these elements were performed correctly and in the right sequence
they mande for a good and repeatable golf swing.
Ben Hogan formed together with the other golf legends born in 1912 (Byron Nelson
and Sam Snead) the "Big Three of Golf".
Ben Hogan Five Lessons
His book Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf is quite likely the most widely read golf
tutorial ever written. Ben Hogan's Modern Fundamentals: The Five Lessons of Golf was initially released as a five
part series beginning in the March 1957 issue of Sports Illustrated magazine, and was printed in book form
later.
Even today it continues to maintain a place at or near the top of the Amazon.com golf book sales rankings. The
book was co-authored by Herbert Warren Wind, and illustrated by artist Anthony Ravielli.
